Richard “Rick” Kenneth Rhodes passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 on his 65th birthday. Rick dedicated his life to service in law enforcement throughout West Virginia. He retired as a Sergeant from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office. He was an avid baseball fan and followed the Cincinnati Reds religiously. He loved to paint, travel, and commune with nature. His love of the American Old West grew from his reading and collecting Louis L’amour novels. He was a kind and gentle soul with an infectious optimism that brightened the lives of everyone he met. He had a knack for making everyone laugh and his humor will be sorely missed. He leaves behind his greatest accomplishments, his three children, Scott Rhodes (Marion), Christina Fields (Joshua) and Nikki Brooks (Kevin); grandchildren, Ethan(Jane), Angelina, Miya, Grant, Aaron, Aeva and Lilly; brother Roger Rhodes (Stephanie); sister-in-law Linda Rhodes; sisters Beverly Anderson and Virginia Vance (Gerald); several nieces and nephews including his special little baseball buddy Ralphie Rhodes. He was preceded in death by his father Leon Rhodes, mother Betty Rhodes, brother Rodney Rhodes and brother-in-law Jerry Anderson. Though his light has gone out, the fires he lit in this world will continue to burn long after he’s been laid to rest. He will continue to live on through those of us who remember him, his love and everything he taught us along the way. Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
