Robert P. "Bob" Balis

November 8, 2015 at Jackson General Hospital. Bob was born on January 31, 1938 in Sandyville, a son of the late Church "C.E." and Virginia Palmer Balis. He served his country in the US Army, 101st Airborne Unit. He was a Pipeliner and Truck Driver and worked for Murphy Brothers And Kaiser Aluminum Trucking. He attended the Independence United Methodist Church. Bob enjoyed farming and loved being with family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Charlene Gandee Balis; daughters Pam Lewis and her husband Jim of Sandyville and Robin Sheppard and her husband Gary of Rockport; grandchildren Jessica (Chad) Spears, Megan (Canden) Sharp, Mallory (Ryan) Anderson, Jonathan (Heather) Triplett and Kelsey (Josh) Smith; great grandchildren Hunter, Cara and Lexi Spears and Grayson Smith; step grandchildren Chris (Candace) Lewis, Josh Lewis, Adam Lewis and Tyler Sheppard; step great grandchild, Avonlea Lewis; brothers John (Sue) Balis of Sandyville and sister Delores "Dee" (Bill) Lee of Chattanooga, TN. Funeral Service will be 3:00 pm Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Jared Caltrider officiating. Burial with Military honors provided by Ripley American Legion Post 107, will be in the Independence Cemetery, Sandyville. Friends may call on the family two hours (1 to 3 pm) prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
