Robert Wesley Hopper

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce that Robert Wesley Hopper, age 19, departed this life May 18, 2022. He was born February 4, 2003 in Charleston, WV to proud parents Robert and Kara Hopper. He resided in Evans, WV. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Lauren Hopper; grandparents, Roy Lee and Donna Hopper; aunts and uncles, Ronald and Kim Hopper, David and Crystal Hopper, Robert and Parabh Meek, Valerie and David Long, Andrew and Tara Meek; as well as a host of beloved great aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, and family pets. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dr. Robert Meek, Jr. and Carolyn Meek. Wesley was very competitive in sports and academics and enjoyed soccer, gaming, trivia, and robotics. He was an avid soccer player from the young age of 4; first, with the Ripley Youth Soccer Club, Football Club of Ripley, as well as Ripley Middle School and Ripley High School. He loved gaming, especially Fortnite, with friends from around the world. You could find him with his friends most Wednesday nights at the Fairplain Yacht Club battling for bragging rights on who won the trivia contest. During his senior year in high school, he was the driver for his robotics team that went on to win the 2021 West Virginia State Robotics Championship. He graduated from Ripley High School in 2021 and was the valedictorian of his senior class. He was a National AP Scholar and achieved numerous other academic achievements. A memorial service will be held on May 25, 2022 with visitation from 4-6 p.m. and service at 6 p.m. at the Waybright Funeral Home, 511 South Church Street, Ripley, WV 25721.
