Robert Leftwich

Robert "Bobby" Carroll Leftwich, 76, of Charleston, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, April 8, 2014. He was born June 23, 1937 in Charleston, son of the late John and Beatrice Cochran Leftwich. He served in the United States Army where he became ping-pong champion in Germany. He loved poker, westerns and sports. His favorite memories were relaxing in Florida, playing golf with his wife. Bobby devoted over 60 years of his life to Shoney's where he started as a dishwasher and worked his way up to owning several Shoney's restaurants. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Frances, and brothers Benny, Edward and Donald. Surviving: Sons, Robert Leftwich (Sheila) of Ripley and Mike Leftwich (Tiffany) of Pinch; Daughters, Barbie Leftwich of Sandyville and Melissa Leftwich of Charleston; Sisters, Alice Dolan of South Charleston and Mildred Kiser (Eugene) of Charleston; Grandchildren, Christopher Leftwich of Proctorville, Ohio, Ashlea Gable of Sandyville, Rachel Briggs (Jesse) of Ravenswood, Rachelle Leftwich of Ripley, Whitney Knotts (Mark) of Millwood, Ricci Pitzer of Charleston and Tanner Leftwich of Williamstown; Great grandchildren, Cash Curry, Kaleb Knotts, Deondre, Aniyah and Traevian Briggs. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Hospice for such great care of Bobby and the entire family throughout the final weeks of his life. A service celebrating the life of Robert "Bobby" Leftwich will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 p.m. The family urges you to bring your favorite "Bobby" story to share during the service if you choose.
