Robert Edwin Mellon

Bob left his beloved family to begin his eternal journey July 16, 2019 to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Robert Edwin Mellon was born May 28, 1935 in Parkersburg. He was the son of the late Lewis Edward Mellon and Helen (Bennett) Mellon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters Betty Storer and Agnes Mellon; daughter-in-law Mary Mellon and step-granddaughter Emily Sara Faith Pursley. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Margaret (Hutchinson) Mellon; three sons Robert Mellon Jr. (Joyce) of Belpre, OH, Michael Mellon (Sherri) of Hebron, OH, and Paul Mellon of Little Hocking, OH; two stepsons (who were like sons to Bob) Jason Pursley (Cathy) of Sandyville and Tracy Pursley (Dortha) of Evans; six grandchildren Bobbi Sue Liston, John Mellon (Crystal), Elissa Wharton (Jeremy), Elizabeth Blamer (James), Austin Mellon, Rachel Meek (Josh); five step-grandchildren Dustin Pursley (Lauren), Jake Pursley (Chelsey), Kurt Pursley, Mikayla Pursley, Morgan Pursley; 12 great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by niece Gayla Storer and great nephew Cody Storer. Bob graduated from Belpre High School with the Class of 1954. He served in the U.S. Army 1st Division- Spec list 4th Class. He retired from Dupont with 37 years of service. Bob was previously a member of Rockland Methodist Church and served as a Devotional Leader. 31 years ago he moved his membership to Meadow Dale Baptist Church serving as Superintendent and Devotional Leader. When he lived in Belpre he was a member of the Belpre Volunteer Fire Department and was a current member of the West Virginia Miniature Horse Club, American Miniature Horse Association, and American Miniature Horse Registry. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 20th at the Meadow Dale Baptist Church on Liverpool Rd. in Sandyville with Pastor Andrew Rood officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Meadow Dale Cemetery.
