Robert Lee Parsons, 86 of Ripley, passed away February 8, 2024 at Mountain View Health Center following a short illness.
He was born October 15, 1937 in Sissonville, son of the late Floyd "Harrison” and Garnett Kidd Parsons. He enjoyed farming and building and in the 60’s and 70’s worked at Union Carbide. He was the owner and operator of Sissonville Yamaha and Tri-City Sport and Cycle. He was a Christian and member of the Ripley Baptist Temple. Bob and his wife Cheryl are the owners of Parsons Pioneer Farm where they hosted Pioneer School in the summers for many children from Jackson and surrounding counties. In 1983 Bob was instrumental in moving and restoring the Statts Mill Covered Bridge from its original location in Statts Mill to its present location at Cedar Lakes where many people can enjoy the bridge.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cheryl Gentry Parsons; sons Bobby Parsons, John (Chris) Parsons, Daniel Parsons and Matt (Jennifer) Parsons; daughter Amber (Todd) Bays; sister Ruby Hall of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren Madison, Caleb, Issac, Jamie and Josh.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin Parsons; daughters Susan Parsons and Lee Ann Parsons and sister Phyllis Thomas.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating. Burial will be in the Parsons Family Cemetery located on the family farm in Ripley. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
