Robert "Bob" Smith

October 20, 1941 — April 28, 2019

Robert M. “Bob” Smith, 77 of Ripley, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Hubbard Hospice House following a short illness. Bob was born October 20, 1941 in Kenna, a son of the late Martin and Ora Smith. He was a 1959 graduate of Ripley High School and following that served in the United States Air Force. Bob loved driving and traveling and was a Truck Driver for many years. He drove a school bus for the Jackson County Board of Education for eight years and also drove a Tour Bus. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Jeannie Siders Smith. Although they had no children, he is survived by Tammy Gorrell, Erica Saltsgaver, Camron Saltgaver, Alyssa Detweiler and Bill Detweiler whom he considered his children and Dalton Saltsgaver, Carson Saltsgaver and Alexia Detweiler whom he considered his grandchildren; sister-in-law Jan Smith of South Carolina; brother-in-law Vernon Kay of St. Albans and several nieces and nephews; he was very grateful for his neighbors who were a part of his extended family, Ollie Harvey, Theresa Carmichael, Leanne Cline and Michele Sturkey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Doris Kay and a brother, Jack Smith. Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. Dr. Ford Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Grasslick Cemetery, Kenna. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Funeral Home.
