Roger Dale Posten Jr.

Roger Dale Posten Jr., 52, of Birch River, WV, passed away on June 3, 2026. He was born in Ripley, WV on February 8, 1974 to Roger Posten Sr. and Debra Hackney.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his son, Dustin Haynes.

Roger’s greatest joy in life was being a proud papaw. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, being at the beach and spending time on his farm. He was an EMT and Firefighter for the Ripley Fire Department and a member of Brothers of the Wheel Motorcycle Club.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sherrie Posten; two dads, Roger Posten Sr. and Charles Hackney; sons, Austin Haynes, James “Jimmy” Linkous (Kristina), Charles Linkous, and Bentley Posten; daughters, Ciara Haynes and Airel Haynes; sister, Stacy Carter; grandchildren, Kylee, Kya and Glenn Linkous, Elaina and Lane Haynes, Hope and Nash Haynes, and Ellie and Gunnar Linkous; niece, Alexis Carter; nephew, Levi Carter; and many other loved ones.

A funeral service will be held at Waybright Funeral Home on Saturday June 13, 2026, at 2p.m. with visitation from 12-2p.m. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Ripley, WV.
