Romie Lee Fields

Romie Lee Fields, 82, of Kenna, WV passed away January 12, 2026 at Camden Clark Medical Center following an extended illness.

He was born April 19, 1943 in Statts Mills, WV a son of the late Ova and Elva (Fisher) Fields. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and then in the Army Reserves 812th Ordinance in Ripley for 20 plus years.

Romie is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Catana Fields; his two daughters Leslie (Steve) Bowman of Beckley and Patricia (Robert) Baughman of Nelsonville, OH. He was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Aaron Summers, Gabby, Robert and Shay Keaton and Ross Baughman. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Fields and sisters Alma Combs, Iva Walker, Thelma Mace, Sharon (Earl) Crihfield and Alta (Rondal) Crihfield. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, Romie was preceded in death by brothers Holly, Filbert and Arnold Fields and sisters Dotty Jean Fields, Nancy Carney and Evelina Pauley.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, January 16th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor David Spencer officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Goshen Cemetery, Kenna. Military Honors will be rendered by the Jackson County Honor Guard.
