Ronald “Romey” Charles Hatcher Sr., 79, of Ripley passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the Ravenswood Care Center.
Ronald was born June 11, 1945 at Gay, WV a son of the late Cleo and Margaret (Jeffries) Hatcher. Romey was a graduate of Ripley High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he would work many years at Kaiser Aluminum before retirement. Romey was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and watch westerns, with Gunsmoke being his favorite. He also enjoyed Christmas time and time he could spend with his family.
Romey is survived by his wife of 8 years, Janet (Fields) Hatcher; children Ronald Charles Hatcher Jr. (Rachel), Stephanie Hatcher (Jason Fultz), Jessica Hatcher and Kevin Wokrman (Amber); son in law Adam Wyant; half-brother Bernard Jeffries; grandchildren Andrew Lattea, Josh Hatcher, Joseph Hatcher, Chris Wyant, Caitlyn Simmons (Derek), Jonathan Hatcher, Gary Hatcher (Nicole), Sergeant Wyatt Damron (Gia), Dakota Hatcher, Colby Workman and Courtney Workman and great-grandchildren Josiah Simons, Elijah Walker, Haven Hatcher, Everest Hatcher, Alayna Wilson, Josiah Wilson, Joshua Wilson, Faya Workman, Elijah Workman and one on the way.
In addition to his parents Romey was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Hatcher; daughter, Patricia Wyant and a sister Dottie Anderson; half sisters Kathy Jeffries and Brenda Bertoli and stepfather Donzel Jeffries.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 18th at Waybright Funeral Home with Ed Austin officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Jeffries Cemetery, Gay. Military Rites will be rendered by the Jackson County Honor Guard.
