Roxanne Sowards

Roxanne Sowards, 67, of Ripley went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 23, 2024.

She was born May 30, 1956 in Columbus, OH a daughter of the late Lewis and Deloris (Zabonik) Thivener.

Roxanne was a 1974 graduate of the Apostolic Lighthouse Christian School in Albany, OH. Roxanne and her late husband, Herman Darrell Sowards, married on December 21, 1974. They began a life of serving the Lord together and with their two children, Anthony and Kelly Sowards.

In their 47 years of marriage, they would have four more children and fifteen grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roxanne was a faithful member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Ravenswood. Roxanne loved and enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to laugh, sing and read in her spare time. She will greatly be missed.

Roxanne is survived by her children Anthony Sowards, Kelly (Amy) Sowards, Joshua Sowards, Jennifer (Randy) Pickens and Karissa (John) Meredith; grandchildren Matthew, Lauren "Kristy", Jessica, Brent, Samantha, Shianne, Mickey, Riannah, Elijah, Natalie, Kayla, Riley, Nikolas, Peyton and Alexis; brothers Joe and Mark Thivener and a sister, Choya Kirk.

In addition to her parents, Roxanne was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Darrell Sowards, a son Jason Sowards and grandchildren Jesse, Lillian and Isabella.

Honoring Roxanne’s wishes she will be cremated. A memorial service to celebrate life will be on Friday, March 1st at 1 p.m. at the First United Pentecostal Church, Ravenswood with Pastor David Johnston officiating.
