Roy Asbury, 79 of Ripley passed away April 10, 2015 at his home following a long illness. He was born December 18, 1935 in Kanawha County, a son of the late Howard Luther and Maggie Rice Asbury. He retired from the Department of Highways and worked in construction most of his life including having been employed by Carl Smith Construction and Kaiser Aluminum Construction. He is survived by his wife Dessie Phillips Asbury; sons Kenneth (Cindy) Asbury, Frank (Lucinda) Asbury, Jeffrey (Buffie) Asbury, Gary Asbury and Roy Lee (Teresa) Asbury; daughters Karen (Jackie) Stinson and Sheila Asbury; brothers Robert (Linda) Asbury and Kenna (Janice) Asbury; sisters Ruth (Robert) Pruitt, Dorothy (Terry) Robertson and Delvia Jane Fowler. Also survived by 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Asbury. Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating. Entombment will be in the Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
