Royal Leon "Rick" Casto, Jr, 54 of Ripley went to be with his Heavenly Father on October 14, 2014 at Eldercare of Ripley following a long illness. Rick was born on May 31, 1960 at Ripley, son of Royal Leon and Evadean Faye Fields Casto. He was a member of the Graduating Class of 1979 from Ripley High School and also graduated from the West Virginia Corrections Officer Academy. He was a former Ripley Fireman and Radio Dispatcher, Jailor and Deputy Sheriff for the Jackson County Sheriff Department. Rick worked many jobs in his lifetime including Wal-Mart, Ohio Valley Truss Company and Smith Concrete. He was a Truck Driver for Goldizer Trucking as well as Harless Trucking and former owner of Casto Trucking. He was a former partner of Ripley Auction and Furniture Store with his parents and had a farm in Milton where he raised Goats and Horses. He was a member of the Nitro Moose Lodge and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of the Ozark Baptist Church in Milton. Rick was severely injured in a four wheeler accident on his farm on December 12, 2007 and spent a number of days in rehab for his injuries. He is survived by his parents Royal Leon and Evadean Casto of Ripley; a step daughter Amanda (McKaughan) Carte and her husband Ashley; three step grandchildren Jackson Carte, Lexi Carte and McKenzie Carte; uncles Rex Reed, William "Billy" Fields and his wife Debbie, Bill Ray and his wife Elladean and many cousins, and a host of friends. Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents Roy and Ophelia Mae Fields and Forrest and Lillie Casto and many aunts and uncles. Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Burial will follow in the Parsons Cemetery, Gay, WV. Family and Friends will gather on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
