Royal Otis Starcher, 86 of Liberty, passed away April 17, 2026, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born June 25, 1939, in Liberty, son of the late Cletus Starcher and Maxine Reed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Marcelene Cochran Starcher and brother, Connie Cochran.
Royal was a US Army Veteran and a Glass Worker for many years with Kanawha Glass and was a member of the Carpenters Union. He enjoyed traveling with family, Farming, old country music and was a member of the Liberty Mountaineers where he played Electric Guitar.
He is survived by sons Harry Cletus Starcher and his fiancée Patty Rider and James (Karen) Starcher; grandchildren Justin (Iris) Starcher, Jarrod (Jessica) Starcher, and Camichell (Nathan) Selbe; great grandchildren, Lenny, Clara, Rebecca, Jarrod Jr., Grace and Brady; brother, Justin Cochran.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Following the service, Veterans Rites will be provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Center Point Cemetery, Liberty. A time of visitation with the family will be from 1-2 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in memory of Royal to Kanawha Hospice, 1606 Kanawha Blvd W, Charleston, WV 25387.
