Russell Leon Vannoy Jr, 63, of Ripley, climbed the stairway to heaven May 31st of 2021. Rusty was born January 21, 1958 in Arlington, VA. His family made Ripley their home when he was a small child. Rusty later enlisted in the Army in 1976. He was a veteran who served his country with pride. He returned to Ripley and soon met the love of his life, Elizabeth “Lorrie” Hamon Vannoy. They married on November 10th of 1979 and were together for forty-one and half years. Rusty was an outdoorsman. If he wasn’t in the woods or by a stream, he was on his motorcycle. He loved to tell stories of his adventures. Most including his best friend and partner in crime, Jimmy Staats. Many secrets and lies will go to the grave with him. He rode his motorcycle until the day his health made it impossible for him to ride. He is survived by his wife Lorrie, daughters Anna (Marshall) Swisher, Aime Dewees (Jeremy Taylor). The sparkle in his eyes were his grandchildren: Syvanna, Brianna, Joey and Gavyn. He is also survived by his sister Tanya Vannoy Ball, nieces, nephews as well as many family and friends. He is preceeded in death by his parents Russell Sr and Patricia Wilson Vannoy of Ripley WV and infant siblings Tamra and Ronnie. The family would also like to thank the Huntington VAMC, Dr. Faredoon Misaghi, Kevin and all staff who took excellent care of him our veteran. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be given to the Jackson County Veterans. The family will not have services as there will be a Celebration of Life on a later date.
