Ruth Helen Raines passed in her home in LeRoy, WV on November 3rd 2026.
Born to parents Edna and French Brown, she spent her life in LeRoy. Her upbringing surrounded by siblings she helped raise shaped her into a kind, caring, and compassionate woman, all traits she would carry with her as she built a family with her husband Roy Raines becoming the most amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother throughout her life.
She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her, a woman defined by her love and care for others. She enjoyed her family more than anything, cooking for them and sharing stories, laughs, and keeping in contact as often as she could. She also enjoyed watching hummingbirds, reading, and watching shows like the Masked Singer, the Cooking Network, America’s Funniest Home Videos, all of which matched her happy and easy-going personality.
Now she has gone home to rest rejoining her parents, husband, brothers Jim Brown, Jerry Brown, Otis Brown, Robert Brown, and Delmer Roy Fields; son Stacy Raines; daughter and companion Annette Raines; and her beloved great-granddaughter Zoey Raines.
Those left to cherish her memory are son Greg Raines; brothers Terry Brown and Tom Brown; sisters Angie, Wanda, Joyce, Janice, Judy, and Dorothy; grandchildren Chad (Millie) Raines, Casey (Calvin) Nettles, Cory (Samantha) Raines; and Chasity Raines; great-grandchildren Elaina, Carter, Talan, Colt, and Swayde; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members.
A funeral service for Ruth will be held at the Mill Creek Baptist Church in LeRoy, WV on Saturday Nov. 7th, 2026, at 1 pm. Friends are invited to gather in her memory with the family at the church from 12pm to the time of service. After the services she will be laid to rest at the Raines-Brown family cemetery between her husband Roy and daughter Annette. Those wishing to leave condolences for the family may do so at waybrightfuneralhome.com in the guestbook under her obituary.
