Sandra Kay Vidrine

September 26, 1968 — June 1, 2026

Ripley

Sandra Kay Vidrine, 57, of Ripley passed away Monday, June 1, 2026, at her home with her family by her side.

Sandy was born September 26, 1968, in Ripley, WV, a daughter of the late James and Ella Jean (Lowther) Rhodes.

Sandy worked for the Jackson County Board of Education for 30 years as an ECCAT, special education certified hearing-impaired aide. Sandy was very passionate about her job and loved all the children she was able to help through the years. With many students coming back to see her for the care and comfort she always offered. She was a Christian by faith and a faithful member of the Salt Hill Church where she was also a Sunday School teacher. Sandy was a woman of many interest and talents and enjoyed crafting, antiquing, gardening and cooking, with one of her favorites being her jambalaya. She enjoyed spending time with her family at any beach, which was her happy place. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who were her pride and joy, as well as her nieces and nephews. One thing she loved almost as much as her grandkids was a midnight bowl of Peanut Butter Captain Crunch or a bagel with extra butter.

Sandy is survived by her children, David Vidrine (Hallie), Isaac Vidrine (Tiffany) and Abbey Vidrine (Rodji); her siblings Richard Rhodes (Tressa), Dodie Rhodes and Teresa Painter (Scott) and her grandchildren Jaden Vidrine, Ava Hardman, Archer Vidrine, Lila Vidrine and Zoey Kay Vidrine.

In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her nephews Ryan Rhodes and Chris Rhodes.

Sandy shared a special bond with her granddaughter Zoey Kay, which only they will truly understand. Zoey not only shared her grandmother’s middle name, but also shared a battle with cancer when Zoey was diagnosed with Leukemia at 3 months old. As Sandy has now beat her battle with cancer, Zoey is also now currently cancer free and in recovery.
