Sara Jane Burgess, 42, of Ravenswood, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, May 8, 2015 at her home surrounded by family and friends following a long illness. She was born October 8, 1972 at Kanawha County, a daughter of Carolyn Randolph Nickelson and the late Guy "Bill' Nickelson. Sara was a "Free Spirited Woman" and a beautician for 17 years and also a Real Estate Agent for seven years. After this she was a caregiver for her mother and enjoyed traveling, motorcycle rides with her husband and love of her life, Ray and being with her family. She was loved by many and made an impression on everyone with whom she came in contact. In addition to her mother Carolyn Nickelson, she is survived by her husband Ray Burgess; daughter Jessica King(David) Ball and her children Taylor and Hayden Ball; step daughters Chelsi (Ryan White) Burgess and her children J.J Hickman and Elijah White, and Brooke (Jason)Lamar and her children Brittney and Reese Lamar; step son Jeremy (Ashley Lawrence)Burgess and his son Grayson; special nephew Ryan Nickelson; loving brother and sister Billy (Ketha) Nickelson and Lora Nickelson Coleman (Matthew Fields); special sister in law along with Ketha, Rosa (Dallas Shamblin) Murrey; Nieces and nephews Shawndra (Kolt Matheny)Nickelson and her children Aubree and Kaden Matheny, Morgan and Logan Coleman, Kenneth Murrey, Samantha Santelli and Christopher Burgess, Alisha Powell, Derek and Devon Fields and her "Fur Baby," Simon. Funeral Service will be 6:00 pm Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor John Smith officiating. Following the service the family will host a reception at the Parsons-Vail Family Center located inside the Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Following the Funeral Service Sara's request for cremation is being honored. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation 191 Waukegan Road, Sui39624040te 150, Northfield, IL 60093 in honor of her Father or "Pay it Forward " with a random act of kindness that will keep Sara's memory alive.
