Sarah Smith Sarah Olivia Smith, 17, of Ripley, passed away Monday afternoon at CAMC Women's and Children's Hospital in Charleston following an extended illness. She was born December 30, 1994 in Freemont, Ohio, daughter of Kevin D. and Mary Smith. Sarah was a sophomore at Ripley High School and a member of the Ripley Baptist Temple. In addition to her parents, survivors include: Fiance, Jake Stanley of Ripley; Infant daughter, Rylee Grace Stanley; Brother, Kevin Smith of Ripley; Sisters, Katherine, Leah, Emily and Rebecca Smith, all at home; Paternal grandmother, Margaret Smith of Ripley; Maternal grandmother, Erma Smith of Pt. Pleasant; Special nieces, Makenzie and Kaylynn Smith of Ripley. A celebration of Sara's life will be held Friday evening, October 19, 2012 at 8 p.m. at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor Grant Garber officiating. Interment will follow on Saturday morning at Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley, with the graveside committal service beginning at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Friday evening. Since contracting her illness, Sarah had become a passionate supporter of Leukemia research. In lieu of flowers, contributions to your local cancer society or leukemia research foundation would be a fitting tribute to the memory of Sarah. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at CAMC Women's and Children's Hospital for their honest compassion and care shown to Sarah and the entire family during this difficult journey.
