Sattis R. Parsons, 89 of Kenna, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on December 18, 2024 at his home in Kenna following an extended illness.
He was born March 15, 1935 in Kenna, WV son of the late Richard and Mamie Casto Parsons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Starling Parsons; sisters Phyllis Jean Fisher and Patsy Jane Hartley; two grandsons, Nick Parsons and Traevin Casto and two great grandchildren, Dominic Parsons and Brayleigh Parsons.
He retired from Century Aluminum of Ravenswood, WV with 39 years of service, and was a member of the United Steel Workers Union, Local #5668. He was a man who loved his family and family events, loved talking on the phone with his family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, loved to fish and hunt. He also loved his farm and doing anything outdoors, from gardening to hunting ginseng. He also loved to watch sports on TV and was an avid WVU and Reds fan. When he was able he always attended his grand kids ball games. In his younger years he would coach youth sports.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Glenna Matthews Parsons; sons S.R.(Polly) Parsons Jr , Terry (Sara)Parsons; daughter Traci (Kevin) Casto; grandchildren, Michelle Cline, J.R. Parsons, Bobby Parsons, Hannah Parsons, Beth Parsons, Dalton Adkins; great grandchildren, Dakota Parsons, Christian Cline, Isaac Parsons, Sophia Cline, Olivia Parsons, Caroline Parsons, Dreiden Parsons, Rhailyn Parsons, Liam Parsons, Ozzy Parsons, Tannis Parsons, Kylie Parsons, Logan Parsons, Nick Parsons Jr.; great-great grandchildren, Leo, Bexley and Rowen along with several nieces and nephews and half of Jackson County in cousins.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, December 22, 2024 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with S.R. Parsons Jr. officiating. Friends may call on the family from 1:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
The family would like to express a special thank you to his son-in-law, Kevin Casto, for the special care he gave to Sattis during his illness
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations in memory of Sattis to the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 86 County Farm Rd, Cottageville, WV 25239.
