Sharon Kay Abner

Sharon Kay (Balderson) Abner, 68, of Marietta, formerly of Ripley passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Marietta Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

Sharon was born March 2, 1954 at Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Emory Dale and Clara White Balderson. Sharon was employed by CAMC Hospitals with over 20 years of service. Sharon enjoyed crocheting, painting and mowing her grass. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Sharon is survived by her sisters Mary Davis (Rick) of Parkersburg and Rosalie Fridley (Jim) of Ripley; brother Paul Balderson (Suzie) of Sandyville; niece Kayla Roberts (Kevin) of Walker; nephew Michael Balderson of C; great nieces and nephews Connor, Colson and Carly Roberts. Sharon is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Abner.

A funeral service to celebrate Sharon’s life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday January 22nd at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery, Sandyville.
