Sharon Smith, of Kenna, passed away on January 5, 2026, after a sudden illness.
Sharon was born on January 12, 1952, in Charleston, where she was lovingly adopted by her parents, Charles and Francis Burdette, of Sissonville. From the very beginning, she was deeply cherished—and she carried that same devotion into every role she later held in life.
She graduated from Ripley High School and, in August of 1974, married her best friend, Della Stinson Smith Jr. Together, they raised three children—Stinson Smith, Aaron Smith, and Angela Smith—to whom Sharon devoted her entire heart and soul.
The world would be a kinder place if everyone were fortunate enough to have a mother like Sharon. She was endlessly patient, unwaveringly supportive, and always stood beside her children and grandchildren, no matter the circumstances.
Her love for raising children was so deep that she later adopted her grandchildren, Tara Hanson and Sierra Smith, loving them as her own—if not more. Her family was her purpose.
Sharon was also blessed with three great-grandchildren—Skyler Hanson, Lincoln Hanson, and baby Noel—who brought her immense joy and were the greatest source of happiness in her final days.
Outside of her family, Sharon found comfort in the simple things: a Diet Coke and a Sonoma Light, spirited arguments, watching Gunsmoke (especially Matt Dillon), and spending time with her beloved dog, Baby Girl.
Sharon’s legacy is one of unconditional love, quiet strength, and fierce devotion to family. She will be deeply missed.
