Shirley Ann Hunt

Shirley Ann (Anderson) Hunt, 88, of Ripley went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2024, with family by her side, after a short illness.

Shirley was born September 15, 1936 in Gay, WV a daughter of the late Elza and Bessie (Tolley) Anderson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Clair Fisher Hunt; brothers Junior, Wayne and Laco Anderson and a sister, Olivia Kidd.

Shirley retired from the Jackson County Clerk’s office with many years of service. She was a 1954 gradaute of Ripley High School.

Shirley was a faithful member of the Ripley Baptist Temple for 67 years. She loved attending church services and the fellowship with her church family. Throughout the years she was a Sunday School teacher, worked in AWANA’s and Bible School, participated in the Bible printing ministry and numerous other roles. She also enjoyed the activities and trips with the Golden Years Fellowship. She enjoyed going to the Amish country with family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending all activities involving her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by son, Steve Hunt and wife, Meegan of Ripley; daughter, Sherrie Murphy and husband, Bruce of Cross Lanes; grandchildren, Brandon and Jonathon Murphy, Jamison and Jaelyn Hunt; brother Larry Anderson (Frances) of Parkersburg, WV and sister, Brenda Mobley (Randy) of Ripley and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 27th at the Ripley Baptist Temple with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the church. Entombment will be in the Jackson County Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Cotttageville.
