A. Stanley Counts, 58 of Given passed away December 16, 2018 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, WV. Stanley was born June 20, 1960 in Ripley, a son of the late Albert Monroe and Melba I. Godbey Counts. Stanley was a Boilermaker and enjoyed farming. He loved to fish, hunt and camp and enjoyed cooking wild game. Stanley could fix almost anything and was always willing to help anyone in need. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Carney Counts; a daughter Michele Counts Brotherton (Travis); son Brian Counts (Kacie); grandchildren, Tatum and Maverick Brotherton; sisters Connie Counts, Patricia Young (Phillip) and Rita Colistra (Kevin); and his faithful dog, “Franky.” He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Lewis Counts and a sister, Delores Eplin. In honoring Stanley’s wishes he will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Lewis Counts Memorial Cemetery, located at the family farm on the corner of Jim Ridge Road and Rockcastle Road, Given.
