Steve Winter

Stephen Paul Winter, 69 of Ripley, passed away April 17, 2026, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, following an extended illness.

Steve was born May 29, 1956, in Charleston, son of the late Allen “Jack” and Ida Catherine Matheny Winter. He was a 1974 graduate of Ripley High School here he played Football, Wrestling and Baseball. He was a Diesel Mechanic and enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, mowing his grass and NASCAR.

Steve is survived by his sister, Debie (Tim) Holley, brothers, Jim (Tammy) Winter and Scott Winter; nephews and nieces, Steven (Tina) Holley, Richard (Nisha) Holley, Beth Holley, Ashley Huffman and Loren Winter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Curtis Winter.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Brandon Deskins officiating. Burial will be in the Fairplain Cemetery, Ripley. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
