Teresa Louise Anthony

Teresa Louise (Griggs) Anthony, 72, of Ripley passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Roane General Hospital following an extended illness.

Teresa was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Donald J. “Jim” Anthony; parents Claude and Minne (Warren) Griggs and 3 brothers, Roger Dale Griggs, Claude Jackson Griggs and infant Danny Thomas Griggs.

She is survived by her three children Tess Anthony (Roy), Dede Gunn-Anthony and Donald James “DJ” Anthony II (Rachel); grandchildren Maria Mitchell-Burdette (Mark), Jared Devin Anthony (Jessica), Cierra Paige Gunn-Durback (Brandon), Olivia Miller-Morgan (Benji), Matthew, Jacob, Savanna, Madison and Hunter; bonus grandchildren Savannah and Jonathan Asbury; 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who were all very special to her. She is also survived by her 3 best friends, Bernice Clay, Glenda Cross and Joyce Bonnett.

Teresa was a homemaker until deciding to join the workforce in 1985 as an assistant manager at KFC and then going on to become a Wal-Mart associate and also worked the fitting room. She also arranged many fundraising events for the Children’s Miracle Network. Teresa would retire from Wal-Mart with 25 years of service. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with family but second to that was meeting new people. She never met a stranger and once she met you, you were considered a friend. She loved life and attempted to fill every day and everyone around her with her enthusiasm, even after being diagnosed with dementia.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Mile Tree Center in Spencer for their care over the past few months. Also, to the Roane General ER and Acute Care staff for the support given to us all in her final days.
