Thomas Edward Haynes, known to all as “Johnny” 82 of Ripley, passed away September 17, 2024 at CAMC General Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born July 15, 1942 in Gay, son of the late Clovis and Wavie Westfall Haynes. He worked and retired from the Jackson County Department of Highways after 30 years of service as a backhoe/heavy equipmen operator.
He is survived by his only son, Timothy (Stacey) Haynes of Ripley; sisters Maxine Pensa of Chicago and Ruth Beane of Sissonville; grandchildren, Johathan (Diana) Haynes, Josh Haynes, Logan (Katie) Shamblin, Jordan (Savannah) Shamblin, Brandon (Katelyn) Shamblin, Austin (Vanessa) Shamblin, 16 great grandchildren and partner, Mary Cline.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean Haynes; brothers Joe Haynes, Keith Haynes, Jack Haynes and Bud Haynes; sisters Jean Church, Mary Yost, Evaline Crowder and Dorothy Noble.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Siniaville Cemetery, Statts Mill with Pastor Danny Cummings officiating.
