Thurman Dwight Sargent, 85, of Scott Depot died December 4, 2021 following a long illness at Genesis of Hurricane. Dwight was a retired heavy equipment operator for Cypress Kanawha Corporation and a member of the United Miner Workers of America. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents Thurston and Louie Grey (Bailey) Sargent; sons Larry and James Sargent as well as several brothers and sisters. Dwight is survived by his wife Virginia Sargent, stepdaughter Karen Stover; stepsons Larry, Terry and Eddie Burns; grandchildren Tom Sargent, Amy George and Amber Carney; stepgrandchildren Christina Stover and Terry Burns II; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Delmas, Dale, Tracy and Charles and sisters Jean and Kathern. Funeral service will be held 12 p.m., Tuesday, December 7th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Jim McCallister officiating. Visitiation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Creston Cemetery, Evans.
