Veronica Marilyn Barker

Veronica Marilyn Barker, 61, of Sandyville passed away November 9, 2015 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a long illness. She was born August 4, 1954 in Walton, WV, a daughter of the late James and Sada Coon Simms. She was a nurse at Eldercare Health and Rehabilitation in Ripley with 37 years of service. She enjoyed cooking, cheering on the West Virginia Mountaineers, and watching her favorite NASCAR driver, Matt Kenseth. She is survived by her children Grant Barker (Chelsey) of Sandyville, Valicity Pauley of Ripley, and Demetria Smith (Billy) of Sandyville; brother Berkley Simms of Ravenswood; sisters Rebecca Cozart(Charlie) of Ravenswood, Midge Taylor(Paul) of Ashland, OH, and Delores Taylor of Franklin,NC; grandchildren Summer Wright, Paige Berry(Andrew), Savannah Shamblin(Chris), Holly Smith, Ashley Stpehenson, Haley Stephenson, and Jane Barker; great-grandchildren Ashton Berry, Emerson Berry, Dakota Burns, and Sadie Shamblin. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Evangelist Carla Jarrett officiating.
