Violet Burdette

Violet Magdeline Burdette, 92, of Sissonville, formerly of Leroy, passed away May 18, 2022 at CAMC Memorial Hospital. She was born March 16, 1930 at Leroy, a daughter of the late Roy and Janie Rhodes Mitchell. Violet enjoyed traveling, as well as working with her flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed following the Cincinnati Reds and attending church at Mill Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member. Violet is survived by her sons, Gregory Burdette (Debbie) and Stephen Burdette (Debby); brothers Junior and Bubby Mitchell; sisters Annalee McCrady and Barbara Freeman; grandchildren Jason Burdette (Missy), Sarah Beth Burdette and Rachael Anne Adkins; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by loving husband, Wayne Burdette; brothers Gay, Lawrence, and Buddy Mitchell and sisters, Evelyn Willis and Dorothy Grady. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21st at Mill Creek Baptist Church, Leroy with Rev. Bob Keen officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 20th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Interment will be in the Baptist Grove Cemetery, Leroy.
