Virginia Irene Thomas

Virginia Irene Anderson Thomas, 95, of Ripley passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020 at Jackson General Hospital due to complications of the COVID-19 virus. She was born November 30, 1924 in Jackson County, a daughter of the late Holley and Corda Rhodes Anderson. Virginia worked at the McCoy’s Restaurant where she managed the kitchen. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, animals and her family. She also had a love of the Lord and attended church at the Ripley Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a member of the Aplin Community Church. She is survived by her granddaughter, Alisha Thomas; daughter-in-law Vicki Thomas; sisters Orthalee Whited, Evadean Rhodes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Blonda George Thomas; son Gareth Thomas and a sister Madeline Hamill. Due to the concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic private family visitation will be observed at the funeral home. Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 24th at the Thomas Cemetery, Gay.
