Vonda Helen Palmer

Helen Palmer Vonda Helen Palmer, of Parkersburg WV, passed away April 10, 2013 at her home. She was born January 14, 1923 at Burnt House in Ritchie County, the daughter of the late Clay and Lena Roberts Metz. She graduated from Harrisville High School with the class of 1941. She attended the Mt. Pisgah United Church and the Trinity Church. She loved her sports and was an avid fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers, Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Reds. Surviving: Son, Roger Cain and wife Pauline of Sandyville, WV; Grandchildren, Traci (Steve) Morrison, Mineral Wells, WV, Lindsay Scott Cain, Sandyville, WV and Teri (Kevin) Ohrn of Sandyville, WV; Great-Grandchildren, Anna (Brian) Lowe, Mollie (Tyler) Bleakley, Logan Morrison, Emily Ohrn, Brady Ohrn, Jon Cain and Abby Cain; Great-great-grandchildren, Eisley, Phoenix, Chase and Channing; Brothers, Delbert (Jean) Metz of Lothin, MD, Lewis (Nina) Metz of Danville, WV and James (Pat) Metz of Kentucky; Special niece, Vonda Sue Jones, that helped take care of her; Special caretaker of 9 years, Tina, of Belpre, O; Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Lindsay Palmer, daughter Dawn Palmer Beckner and brothers Dennis, Doyle and Donald Metz. Funeral services for Helen are set for Monday, April 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Waybright Funeral Home, 511 S. Church St., Ripley, WV, with Pastor Phillip Prunty officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery on Garfield Road in Wirt County. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Sunday, April 14 from 4-8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday morning.
