Walter Weldon Stike 83 of Charleston passed away October 31, 2013 at Charleston General Hospital following a long illness. He was born August 1, 1930 the youngest child of John and Chloe Phipps Stike. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters. He is survived by three sons James (Kelli) Stike of Hendersonville, NC; David Stike of Elkin, NC and Edward R. (Michelle Dillon) Stike of Charleston; grandchildren Clay, Carson, Camden Brett and Taylor. Walt was a US Air Force Veteran from 1946 until 1952 in the 11th Airborne. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum with 35 years of service as Plant Protection Supervisor. He was Active in the community of Ripley and served with the Ripley Volunteer Fire Department; Past President of the Ripley Jaycees and State Vice President of the West Virginia Jaycees. He was an avid Hunter, Fisherman, Outdoorsman, Golfer and WVU fan. Funeral Service will be 7:30 pm Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, WV with John Gunther officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home. Graveside Service will be in the Green Chapel Cemetery, Ashe County, West Jefferson, NC on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 2:30 pm. with Pastor Charles McCoy officiating. A funeral procession will leave the Jeffersonville United Methodist Church Parking lot at 2:00 pm Sunday for the trip to the cemetery.
