Wanda Pearl Haynes

Sep 11, 1936 — May 31, 2026

Sandyville

Wanda Pearl Haynes of Sandyville walked into Glory May 31, 2026 at the age of 89. She was born September 11, 1936 to Robert and Cleo Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Arthur Grandon, her sisters, Alice May Smith and Mona Pickens. Also, the love of her life and father of her children Clay Haynes.

Those left to cherish her memory are her 5 children. Scheral (Darrell) Hill, Rodney (Janie) Haynes, Carlene (Robert) Workman, Alan Haynes, and Robin (Rod) Groves.

11 grandchildren, Tara Hornbeck, Crissenda Cale, Stacey Wolfe, Kristi Webb, Robi Workman, Courtney Workman, Jason Haynes, Miranda Miller, Melinda Haynes, Brittney Donohew and James Groves. She also had 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Louise Lewis.

Not only was Wanda a hard worker but after raising 5 children she worked 18 years as a CNA at Elder Care in Ripley alongside her daughter Carlene.

To know her was to love her, a Christian, Wanda fervently followed and loved the Lord. Kind, caring, loving, generous and a wonderful mother are just a few of the numerous good qualities that Wanda will be remembered for. Wanda spent the last 30 years living with her youngest daughter Robin and her son-in-law Rod, whom she loved as another son. It was here where she grew an unbreakable bond with her 2 grandchildren Brittney and her "Preshy" James. One very close bond that was formed was with her great grandchild, her "Doodle bug", Clay. The lessons and love that they both shared will be sure to influence Clay the remainder of his life. Wanda also enjoyed taking "mini vacations" to her granddaughter Tara's and her niece Debbie Joyce's homes.

The world is sure to be a little dimmer without her in it and she will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

A special thank you to the Kanawha County hospice staff! Lori, Brittany, Sam, Sara, and Tamara. You guys became like family these past few months! Thank you for the excellent care!
