Wiley C. "Bill" Hersman

Wiley C. "Bill" Hersman, 88, of Evans passed away February 1, 2016 at Eldercare of Ripley following a long illness. He was born July 16, 1927 in Jackson County, WV, a son of the late Guy and Mariam Thomas Hersman. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II. He became a State Trooper and later became a US Marshall and served as a Guard for Senator Robert C. Byrd. Mr. Hersman also served on the Wyoming Interstate Commerce Commission. He is survived by son, Christopher Hersman; a daughter Cheryl Hersman; a sister, Nancy Blake and two grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Guy Landon Hersman and Gail Hersman and sisters JoAnn Lott, Ellen Whiting and Rosemary Hudson. In honoring his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services. Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley is serving the family.
