William Edsel Casto, 83 of Statts Mill, passed away December 17, 2023 at Mountain View Care Center, Ripley, following a short illness.
Edsel was born October 2, 1940 in Statts Mill, son of the late Owens and Cora Rhodes Casto. He was previously employed by State Road Construction and True Temper in Charleston but later retired from Pechiney Aluminum. He attended the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and Lakeview Baptist Church. Edsel served his country in the US Army Reserves.
He is survived his children, Cindy (Steve) Lanham of Ripley and Mike (Johnna) Casto of Cottageville; grandchildren Zach (Rachel) Casto, Courtney Lanham and Sydney Casto; step grandchildren Wyatt (Mary Beth) Cottrill, Waylon Cottrill and Brynn Snyder; sister Mamie Belle Stalnaker of Statts Mill; brothers-in-law Clifford (Dorothy) Barnett of West Columbia and Alvia (Joyce) Barnett of Ripley.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Helen (Barnett) Casto; siblings, James Ayril Casto, Glen Foster Casto, John Lane Casto, Olievia Casto and Dorothy Reed; mother and father-in-law Thornton and Myrtle Glenn Barnett.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday, December 22, 2023 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Bill Holley officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard. Burial will be in the Siniaville Cemetery, Statts Mill. Friends may call on the family from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the funeral home.
