William "Bill" Fisher

August 26, 1932 — January 28, 2025

William Ross “Bill” Fisher, 92, of Goldtown, WV went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 28, 2025, at his home, following an extended illness. Bill was born August 26, 1932, on his family farm in Goldtown, WV, to the late James K. and Pauline (Dooley) Fisher.

A 1950 graduate of Ripley High School, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in the Atlantic on the USS Cony. After serving in the Navy, he went to work as a Draftsman for Union Carbide, working his way up to an Electrical Design Supervisor, and retiring in 1985 after 32 years of service.

On November 5, 1954, Bill married Jacqueline “Jackie” Fisher; they were happily married for 70 years. After retirement, Bill enjoyed traveling with his wife throughout the United States and Canada. He especially loved the two trips that he made to Alaska and often spoke of his travels. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish, especially with his two grandsons. He enjoyed working on his farm, watching WVU football and basketball games and telling stories. He was a devout Christian and a member of Fisher Chapel Church of Sissonville and a charter member of Fisher Memorial Church of Goldtown. He served both churches, as a Trustee and on the Board of Directors.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by two sons, Gregory Fisher (Jerome Duhon) of Charleston and Charles Fisher of Goldtown; three grandchildren Christopher Fisher, Tyler Fisher (Chelsea) and Chelsea Hitt (Jim); six great-grandchildren, Adeline, William, Ava, Hattie, Charlie and Clara; and a loving sister, Patricia Aldridge of Goldtown.

Friends and family may call from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m., on Friday, January 31st at Fisher Chapel Church, Sissonville, with Pastor Mike Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude and sincere thanks to HospiceCare, CAMC Memorial Hospital and the CAMC Congestive Heart Failure Clinic.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Online memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.waybrightfuneralhome.com
