William J. Flanagan

William J. Flanagan, 83 of the Comet Community of Ravenswood, went to meet his Lord and be with his son William Carl Flanagan and daughter Deborah Kay Flanagan on December 17, 2015. He was born on May 11, 1932 at Layland, WV, a son of the late Sterley and Eloise Fitzpatrick Flanagan. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from Ravenswood Aluminum Company in Inspection and Loading with 34 years of service. He was a member of the Comet United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gretta Parrish Flanagan; Son Gerald Flanagan of Dunbar; brother Sterley C. Flanagan Jr of Maplewood, WV; sisters Helena Treadway of Woodburn, IN and Anna Jane Warren of Stowe, OH; grandchildren Nicholas Flanagan, Nathan Flanagan, Cara Flanagan and Ryan Flanagan and great grandchildren Travis, Autumn and Everley Flanagan. Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Jared Caltrider officiating. Burial will follow in the Jackson County Memory Gardens in Cottageville. Friends may call one hour prior to the service (noon to 1:00 pm) Monday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations in memory of Mr. Flanagan be made to the Comet United Methodist Church, 1229 Crooked Run Rd., Ravenswood, WV 26164.
