William “Biggie” Robert Whittington, 76, of Sissonville, went home to be with the Lord on April 9, 2024.
Biggie was born September 30, 1947, to William & Frances Whittington, of Sissonville, WV. He graduated from Sissonville High School and attended Marshall University. He married the love of his life, Judy Higginbotham on March 16, 1968, and together they were blessed with three children.
He is preceded in death by his parents William & Frances Whittington, brother, Roger Whittington, sister, Palma Dailey, and father and mother-in-law, Golden & Evelyn Higginbotham. He is survived by his wife Judy, son, William “Rob” (Brandy) Whittington, Jr., daughter Janna (Okey) Burford, and daughter Julie (Michael) Berry. His greatest joys were his grandchildren: Katherine, William, and Grace Whittington, Lane Berry, and Maddie Burford, whom he adored. He was also very proud of his large Church family and was grateful for his Christian faith which was an integral part of his life.
Biggie lived his life for his family. He was their provider, fierce protector, beloved husband, and father. He was a successful salesman by trade of building materials. After his retirement, he spent much of his time devoted to his Church, Allens Fork Community Church, by spearheading numerous building projects. He was instrumental in not only acquiring the property for the new Allens Fork Community Church but also the construction of the church and activities buildings. He held the positions of Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School
Teacher, Devotional Leader, Trustee, and his last and final position was Chairman of the Board. He was deeply loved and respected by his family and church family.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 and one hour prior to the service of Biggie's life at the Allens Fork Community Church, 1611 Allens Fork Road, Sissonville, WV, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13th, 2024. Pastor Jerry Bonnett will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Emma Chapel Church Cemetery, Liberty, WV. The family will welcome flowers, however, those that would like to make a donation in Biggie’s memory, the family suggests contributions be made to the Allens Fork Community Church c/o of Jeanne Barnhart, at 1804 Morecott Drive, Charleston, WV 25320.
The family would like to thank the many loyal and faithful friends and loved ones that lifted Biggie and the entire family up in their prayers. Services are under the direction of Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, WV. The family wishes to thank the physicians, the LVAD Group and nurses at the Cleveland Clinic and the Charleston Hospice House for providing excellent care and comfort to Biggie.
