Obituary for John "Max" Morgan

John “Max” Morgan, 79, a lifelong resident of Sandyville passed away at his home on January 27, 2020.
Max was born in Sandyville a son of the late Charles B. and Myrtle B. Riggs Morgan on February 3, 1940. He graduated from Gilmore High School in Sandyville in 1957. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum after 33 years. He was a member of the Sandyville United Methodist Church. Max proudly served his country in the United States Army for 3 years.
For many years he and Dottie loved traveling on their motorcycle across the country with family and friends. He also loved farming, camping, tinkering on Volkswagens and mowing grass.
Max is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dottie L. Morgan; sons Greg (Kathy) and Mike (Brenda) and one grandson, Isaiah Morgan, who was the love of his life; 4 step brothers, Devon Riggs, Dewayne Riggs, Richard Blackburn, and Joe Jelich; 4 sisters-in-law Sandra Morgan, Julie Morgan, Thelma Sheppard, and Betty Martin; 3 brother-in-laws Jim Mace, Harlan Sheppard, and Carl Martin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Keith and Lou Morgan; step brother Gerald Riggs and stepmother Fenia Morgan; 2 sisters-in-law Edna Mace and Kathryn Bonnett; brother-in-law Vivian McCauley.
Max was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral service will be 1p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripey with Jarrod Caltrider officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery, Sandyville. For those who would like to make a donation in memory of Max, the family suggests they be made to the Sandyville United Methodist Church, 6646 Parkersburg Rd Sandyville, WV 25275.
